We now have available cast aluminum memorial
plaques that can also be used as a grave marker or
for a variety of other purposes including
mounting
on your
apparatus. The rear of the marker is
threaded for a mounting post, which is included with
the marker. Another option is a bracket suitable for
mounting on your vehicle. The markers come
in two
versions,
one identifying a member of the CNY
Chapter, the Belle Isle Reserve
Fire Co. The other
is marked “SPAAMFAA Member.”
It should be
noted
that these markers are NOT sanctioned by
National SPAAMFAA and do not contain the
National SPAAMFAA
logo. They are available from
the Chapter for $40.00 each plus shipping.
Please
specify

July 2010 - Harrisburg PA.
on July 10, 2011 the Belle Isle Reserve Fire Company was represented at the Pennsylvania Pump Primers
annual Muster and flea market at Riverfront Park in Harrisburg on the Susquehanna River across from the Harrisburg Hospital.
The weather was a little damp but the rain stopped to allow the impressive number of participating rigs to caravan
to the muster site to be viewed, pumped and participate in various contests. The night before we were treated to a reception
at the beautiful Pennsylvania National Fire Museum in Harrisburg which is housed in an 1899 Victorian Fire Station. Thanks
to the Pennsylvania Pump Primers for a great time.

August 2010 NY State Fair
Once again some of our members got together to participate in the parade at the NY State Fair for
Fire and Emergency workers day at the Fair. What was different is that we were asked to participate in a new way this year. We
were asked if we could provide a couple of antique fire apparatus to be on display just inside the main gate to the fair in
recognition of the theme of the day. We brought out Bertha, our Ahrens Fox, and Gary Thurstons Seagrave. We selected these
former Syracuse Fire Department rigs as they both handsomely represent Syracuse NY the home of the NY State Fair. The
loaction provided us a very visible location to show off these rigs and feature our organazation. The local media came and
interviewed President Dick Sparrow and Pat Gannon and short features appeared on the local TV news. A HUGE thank you
to those that came and staffed the booth and participated in the parade on that brutally warm day.

September 11, 2010 - Acts of Kindness Weekend
On September 11, 2010 the Belle Isle Reserve Fire Company - CNY SPAAMFAA participated in the Acts of Kindness
Weekend an effort organized by Women Transcending Boundaries to spread kindness and bring people together to perform service
projects and recruit volunteers to help others on this memorable day. There were several sites around the city participating.
We were recruited to help attract attention to the center set up at Assumption Church on North Salina St. Inside there were
people giving away clothing, food, and toys. People were fingerprinting childern for identifications. Agencies were available
to assist people with many things. We parked out front and when people came by to look at the rigs we let them know
some of the things available inside. Responding to the call were the Greenpond and Patterson Macks owned by Gary Thurston
and the Norwich Sanford owned by the Lasky's. Gary Turston, Barry & Joann Lasky, and younger Barry Lasky manned
the rigs.
